This is podcast #5 of BiblioTech – the podcast for future looking library users and staff. Joining Roland Johnson of the Kankakee Public Library is Illinois Secretary of State and State Librarian Jesse White and Director of the Illinois State Library Anne Craig. Prior to his election as Secretary of State, Jesse White served as Cook County Recorder of Deeds and served 16 years in the Illinois General Assembly. In 1959, Secretary White founded the internationally known Jesse White Tumbling Team to serve as a positive alternative for children residing in and around the Chicago area. He was also paratrooper in the U.S. Army’s 101st Airborne Division and served in the Illinois National Guard. He played professional baseball with the Chicago Cubs organization, which was followed by a 33-year career with the Chicago public school system as a teacher and administrator.
