Sue Monk Kidd, popular author of The Secret Life of Bees and The Mermaid Chair, spoke from Florida to Allison Beasley of the Kankakee Public Library. Sue talks about her childhood in the turbulent Georgia of 1964, which inspired the characters of The Secret Life of Bees.
